Island GreenTech was formed as a nonprofit corporation by Tag Gornall, Bob Powell and Rex Stratton to encourage a dialog among Islanders directed toward creating new business on Vashon and Maury Islands and, in particular, the creation of green enterprises and jobs. IGT or GreenTech asked Eva DeLoache of The Historic Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, to restore the old round table that was in Peter Larson’s office at Seattle’s Best Coffee R1 building, now Minglement, so there would be a place to hold a weekly “round table” discussion of issues of Island business. For the past several years, IGT hosted these open meetings at the Roasterie to explore ways and ideas for creating businesses on Vashon. As there are no dues or other costs associated with IGT, it never even opened a bank account until April 2012. Nonetheless, many ventures have been spawned and nurtured by the IGT Round Table discussions.
